“Unwritten Bodies: Seen and Unseen” ist ein transkulturelles Tanzprojekt über Körper, Identität und soziale Prägungen. Es hinterfragt, was der Körper eigentlich ist und was ihn definiert – den kulturellen und den biologischen Körper; den Körper, der uns gegeben ist, und den, den wir selbst erschaffen.

Die Performance entsteht im künstlerischen Dialog von Purnendra Meshram (IN) und Rebecca Mary Narum (DE/USA) und verbindet Erfahrungen aus Indien und Deutschland mit ihren persönlichen Geschichten.

Ein „dritter Körper“ – eine Plastikdecke – bewegt sich mit ihnen wie eine symbolische Haut. Sie steht für Schichten, die wir annehmen, erben oder ablegen möchten. Die eigens entwickelte Klangkomposition von Fiona Combosch (DE) verbindet Stimme, digitale Klänge und Field Recordings beider Länderaus.

An ungewohnten Spielorten lädt das Stück das Publikum auf subtile Weise zum Mitwirken ein. Jede Aufführung wird zu einem neuen Kapitel der Erforschung unserer Körper – und der Geschichten, die sie in sich tragen.

“Unwritten Bodies: Seen & Unseen” is a transcultural dance project about the body, identity, and social conditioning. It questions what the body truly is and how it is defined—the cultural and biological body; the body we are given and the body we create ourselves.

Developed and performed by Purnendra Meshram (IN) and Rebecca Mary Narum (DE/USA), the piece grows out of a dialogue between India and Germany and the artists’ intersecting histories. A “third body” – a plastic blanket – moves with them as a symbolic skin, carrying layers we consciously embrace, unknowingly inherit, or long to lay down.

With an original sound score by Fiona Combosch (DE) that combines voice, digital sound and field recordings from both countries, the work unfolds in unconventional spaces and includes subtle invitations for the audience to join in.

Each performance becomes a living chapter of ongoing research into the bodies we inhabit and the stories they carry.
