“I didn’t arrive at my understanding of the fundamental laws of the universe through my rational mind.” ~Albert Einstein

Influenced from my background in Cultural Anthropology, the question “what makes us human?” is often the underlying impulse behind my artistic work. Having recognized during my Anthropology studies that I could not find the answer to this only through scientific methods, as an artist I also recognize that I cannot find the answer only through art and movement.

My work is defined by my interest to apply scientific methods within artistic processes. Often before I even have an idea for a piece, I am busy researching and exploring questions through texts, conversations, and movement. The result is then an assortment of findings, thoughts and reflections which feed the creation process and the development of a dance piece.

CREATIONS

“The act or process of bring something into existence”

CREATIONS

Creating is probably the most satisfying process for me. Creation has the power to change the world, to change a perspective or an understanding. You have the chance to make something new, which has never been here before!

RESEARCH

“Scientific methods to understand”

RESEARCH

Researching is my way to a creation. We try to understand the world better, understand the idea of a movement, an emotion or the meaning behind it. As professional dancers we often use scientifically-based research to create art.

IMPROVISATION

“The act or process of bring something into existence”

IMPROVISATION

We improvise every day; we just don’t realize it. Every time we make a decision, interact with another person, observe how we are feeling it is a part of the improvisation of life. Improvisation through dance is just developing awareness and practicing life.

COLLABORATIONS

“two heads (or bodies) are always better than one”

COLLABORATIONS

What can we do alone? I love working with other artists to create something, which you could never achieve alone. In this section you will find different projects in which I collaborated with other institutions, dancers or choreographers.
