Accomplices of Instant Composition – they act freely and unprotected. They are wild, unpredictable, idiosyncratic and united in their interaction, inappropriate, appropriate. Here, risk is desired, confrontation and yet always: closeness. Intuitive composing guides the creative flow while capturing the magic of the moment.

“The Accomplices” are a team of freelance professional artists – performance, dance, choreography, who have performed numerous Instant Compositions in various constellations at different locations since 2022 under the direction of Lilo Stahl.

This is part of the onCe instant composition Festival Freiburg.  The onCe Festival celebrates the richness and diversity of improvised performance art every two years.

Instant Composition is based on democratic action and presence in the moment. In Freiburg it dates back to the 1980s and is known and recognized nationally and internationally. We are convinced that it is more important than ever to give this democratic art form a visible space.

At the festival you can explore the potential, diversity and origins of improvisation and get to know it all over again. Artists from different disciplines, generations and cultural backgrounds meet and exchange ideas. For a week we celebrate improvisation as the ART OF THE MOMENT and as a living stage art. During the day there are workshops for dance professionals, enthusiasts and interested amateurs and an active supporting program. In the evenings various performances by improvisation artists from all over the world take place in the E-WERK Freiburg and SÜDUFER.
